If you’re tardy to the party, Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers propelled the Green Bay Packers to a 24-23 win last night against the Chicago Bears on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.
Amid the glitz and glam of Khalil Mack’s Chicago Bears debut, Rodgers rebounded from an injury in the first half and got Green Bay back in the game after a 20-point deficit.
While this is not Rodgers’ first save the day moment…as a basketball purist myself, I’m willing to argue that Rodgers’ victory last night was an MJ passing the baton to Kobe Bryant moment.
For the sake of inclusiveness: the 90s belonged to Michael Jordan, he retired, came back, won, retired again and then became a Washington Wizard. Somewhere in between Jordan playing in our nation’s capital, Kobe Bryant was drafted, played with Shaq, they feuded, got their own teams and Kobe established himself as Jordan’s heir apparent.
But I digress.
Rodgers and Brady are the NFL’s best two quarterbacks. Need verification? Sports Radio’s Pope said it himself yesterday. “Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are two elite quarterbacks in the NFL,” Mike Francesa told a crowd of people yesterday at Hoboken Pilsener Haus during an NFL Kickoff event sponsored by Thuzio & sports betting site, Draftkings.
At 41 years old Tom Brady is a five-time Super Bowl Champion. Brady is one of only two players to win five Super Bowls and the only player to win them all playing for one team.
What’s crazy is that had Brady beaten the New York Giants twice and the Philadelphia Eagles once in the Super Bowl, the Patriots QB would have eight Super Bowl rings.
Francesa believes that before it is all said and done that Brady, won’t end his career with the Patriots. “Tom Brady could put on another uniform before he retires,” he said. “It happened with [Joe] Montana. I can see him in a place like Jacksonville.” He’s only going to places where he can win.”https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-1&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1038896975125590017&lang=en&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fscoopb.com%2Fwfans-mike-francesa-tom-brady-wont-retire-a-patriot-leveon-bell-is-a-jerk-jj-watt-is-overrated%2F&sessionId=940c828d7be51dcbfc2e678036bda7aa9b37f099&theme=light&widgetsVersion=82e1070%3A1619632193066&width=550px
Mike Francesa didn’t end there. He added a few more hot takes:
Francesa also weighed in on Indianapolis Colts quarterback, Andrew Luck. “If he gets healthy, Andrew Luck will be the best quarterback for the next ten years,” he said.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-2&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1038897713134399488&lang=en&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fscoopb.com%2Fwfans-mike-francesa-tom-brady-wont-retire-a-patriot-leveon-bell-is-a-jerk-jj-watt-is-overrated%2F&sessionId=940c828d7be51dcbfc2e678036bda7aa9b37f099&theme=light&widgetsVersion=82e1070%3A1619632193066&width=550px
Le’Veon Bell didn’t play play for the Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday. They could have used him in their tie with the Cleveland Browns yesterday. “Le’Veon Bell is a selfish jerk,” said Francesa.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-3&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1038892716489433090&lang=en&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fscoopb.com%2Fwfans-mike-francesa-tom-brady-wont-retire-a-patriot-leveon-bell-is-a-jerk-jj-watt-is-overrated%2F&sessionId=940c828d7be51dcbfc2e678036bda7aa9b37f099&theme=light&widgetsVersion=82e1070%3A1619632193066&width=550px
Speaking of the Browns, they didn’t lose yesterday and they didn’t win either. They were impressive yesterday especially behind the play of Tyrod Taylor and Josh Gordon. “I don’t think they’ll win more than three,” said Francesa.
In the return of Odell Beckham, Jr and debut of rookie Saquon Barkley, the New York Giants lost 20-15 to the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday. Mike Francesa is not a fan of Eli Manning’s offensive line.https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-4&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1038893446138880000&lang=en&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fscoopb.com%2Fwfans-mike-francesa-tom-brady-wont-retire-a-patriot-leveon-bell-is-a-jerk-jj-watt-is-overrated%2F&sessionId=940c828d7be51dcbfc2e678036bda7aa9b37f099&theme=light&widgetsVersion=82e1070%3A1619632193066&width=550px
“I would rather have the UPS guy block for Eli Manning than Ereck Flowers,” he said.
Former New York Jet and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had a heck of a performance yesterday against the New Orleans Saints. Fitzpatrick threw for 400 yards and 4 touchdowns to help The Tampa Bay Buccaneers pull off their week one upset. “I’d retire tonight if I was Ryan Fitzpatrick,” said Francesa.
“Look at the guys he’s throwing to! They had huge games.”https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-5&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1038896108049768448&lang=en&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fscoopb.com%2Fwfans-mike-francesa-tom-brady-wont-retire-a-patriot-leveon-bell-is-a-jerk-jj-watt-is-overrated%2F&sessionId=940c828d7be51dcbfc2e678036bda7aa9b37f099&theme=light&widgetsVersion=82e1070%3A1619632193066&width=550px
Lastly, Francesa weighed in on the NFL’s position on the National Anthem: “The NFL without an anthem policy is a nightmare.”https://platform.twitter.com/embed/Tweet.html?dnt=false&embedId=twitter-widget-6&features=eyJ0ZndfZXhwZXJpbWVudHNfY29va2llX2V4cGlyYXRpb24iOnsiYnVja2V0IjoxMjA5NjAwLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfSwidGZ3X2hvcml6b25fdHdlZXRfZW1iZWRfOTU1NSI6eyJidWNrZXQiOiJodGUiLCJ2ZXJzaW9uIjpudWxsfX0%3D&frame=false&hideCard=false&hideThread=false&id=1038898204811698181&lang=en&origin=http%3A%2F%2Fscoopb.com%2Fwfans-mike-francesa-tom-brady-wont-retire-a-patriot-leveon-bell-is-a-jerk-jj-watt-is-overrated%2F&sessionId=940c828d7be51dcbfc2e678036bda7aa9b37f099&theme=light&widgetsVersion=82e1070%3A1619632193066&width=550px
