A Culture of Support Between Rutgers Men’s and Women’s Basketball

Rutgers basketball thrived on a National level this season and it’s not just on one side of the program. The Scarlet Knights’ men’s and women’s basketball teams have been making waves and the mutual support between both squads is evident.
Women’s basketball star Kiyomi McMiller emphasized the significance of that unity, especially as the women’s game continues to evolve at a rapid pace.
“It’s extremely important the men’s and women’s basketball teams support each other especially since the women’s game is rapidly growing and creating change for years to come,” McMiller tells ScoopB.com.
The love and respect go both ways, as men’s basketball standout Dylan Harper echoed the same sentiment.
“A bunch of us guys are always at their games,” Harper tells ScoopB.com. “We’re just very supportive of each other. But I think the end thing is that we all like basketball. If there’s a game we can go to regardless of who it is, we’re gonna go watch it.”

Notably, they secured a significant victory over No. 23 Illinois with a score of 82–73 on February 5, 2025, showcasing their potential to excel against top-tier competition.
Dylan Harper’s Clutch Factor and NBA Future

Both McMiller and Harper are not only gaining attention for their play at Rutgers, but their futures at the next level are already being discussed. McMiller had high praise for Harper’s ability to perform in the clutch, forecasting a bright career for him in the NBA.
“Dylan is a clutch player that makes tough shots in late game/ tight game situations. I definitely see him making a big impact in the NBA league next year and making a big difference in his career and I also see him for sure being the top draft pick,” she said.
Who Does Dylan Harper’s Game Resemble?

When asked about Harper’s game and who he reminds her of, McMiller had two names in mind.
“Jalen Brunson and De’Aaron Fox as his comparisons. I would say they are similar because they are shooters that can get to the paint,” she added.
Kiyomi McMiller’s Dedication and Future Legacy

On the flip side, Harper had equally glowing words about McMiller’s dedication and potential.
“She’s always in the gym. I see her around all the time. Hard worker; all the time, she gets it! She’s going to be one of them ones in the next four years. She’ll have a long career and a long legacy here [at Rutgers] and in the WNBA. It’s just great seeing what the girls are doing on the other side,” Harper said.
Who Does Kiyomi McMiller Play Like?
