Earlier this month, LeBron James took his talents out west and signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Since James’ signing, Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, Michael Beasley and JaVale McGee have signed with an already impressive Luke Walton coached roster that includes Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and Lonzo Ball.

Ah yes, Lonzo Ball. The Los Angeles Lakers’ starting point guard, a triple double threat and now a father.

Lonzo’s own father, LaVar Ball, a former NFL player is an outspoken entrepreneur who has a goal to buck the system of traditional high school and college players and how they enter professional basketball while also managing all of his son’s images.

Is that a mouthful, or what?

This past winter, LaVar Ball announced the launch of his Junior Basketball Association league. The summer, the professional league debuted with its design as an alternative to the NCAA. JBA allows high school and  junior college players to immediately play professionally and get paid. The league appointed Ed O’Bannon, Earl Watson and Lonzo Ball to its advisory board and selection committee. “I might have my league get bigger and bigger and worry about things like that,” said LaVar Ball. in an interview with reporter, Landon Buford.

With the coming attraction that the Los Angeles Lakers will be with the addition of LeBron James, it makes you wonder: is there any type of partnership or co-branding remotely possible with Team James and Team Ball?  “At this time, I don’t know right now,” LaVar Ball also told Landon Buford.

“LeBron, he is doing his thing with his business and I am blowing up my empire doing my thing with my business. So, who knows. LeBron is into movies and production, and If I slowly get into that lane as we go, then maybe. I don’t know if I am going to get into that lane; I might not be a movie guy, where I say you know what? I want to make some movies. That is not my passion.”

LaVar Ball added on LeBron James:

“I don’t know if we are going to link up or not. I know he deals with Nike and I deal with Big Baller Brand. I don’t see any co-brand or a connection.”
