The Final Buzzer: Why I’m Closing the Chapter on the Scoop B Radio Podcast After 10 Years

Ten years.

In the media world, a decade is a lifetime. When I first launched the Scoop B Radio Podcast back in 2016 alongside my business partner Emmanuel “DJ Manny eL” Garrett, the vision was rooted in one thing: authenticity. We wanted to provide a home for the stories that usually get left on the cutting room floor. I wanted a space where the intersection of the NBA, hip-hop, and lifestyle didn’t just coexist—they thrived. I wanted to give you the “source” without the corporate filter.

Back then, the podcast landscape was still finding its footing. We were pioneers in merging the archival with the contemporary, digging into my vaults of unreleased interviews and pairing them with fresh insights into the modern game. We built a platform where the legends felt comfortable talking about more than just their box scores.

Decoding the Conversation

Since those early days, we’ve been on a wild run. We’ve been blessed to share the airwaves with absolute icons. From Hall of Famers like Shaq, Allen Iverson, Charles Barkley, Dominique Wilkins, Tracy McGrady, and Isiah Thomas, to culture-shifters like Spike Lee, DJ Khaled, and Ice Cube, we’ve spent a decade decoding the conversation and getting the quote.

We’ve had deep dives with legends like George “The Iceman” Gervin, Rick Barry, James Worthy, and Byron Scott, and talked business and the game with Mark Cuban and Sonny Vaccaro. We’ve kept it authentic with the culture’s favorites like Stephon Marbury, Baron Davis, Metta World Peace, Rod Strickland, Rafer Alston, Kenyon Martin, John Salley, and Darvin Ham.

But it wasn’t just about the names on the marquee. It was about the late nights in the studio with Manny, the meticulous edits, and the commitment to narrative-first storytelling. We didn’t just want to report the news; we wanted to contextualize the culture. Whether we were discussing 90s basketball history or the latest in sports gaming, the goal was always to give the listeners something they couldn’t get anywhere else.

The Sovereign Shift

As any veteran in this game knows, you have to know when to pivot. My journey in this industry didn’t start in 2016; it started at 12 years old hosting Nets Slammin’ Planet back in 1997. From that young age, I learned that the media landscape is constantly shifting, and to stay relevant, you have to be willing to evolve.

I’ve always preached the importance of independent media ownership. Right now, my focus is on scaling Scoop B Enterprises Worldwide and building a sovereign media ecosystem that isn’t tied to traditional network badges. In a world of revolving door contracts and shifting corporate priorities, maintaining the “Scoop B” brand authority is paramount.

To do that effectively, I have to make room for what’s next. We are moving toward a new era of storytelling—one that requires my full energy and a fresh perspective on how I deliver the news and culture to you.

Business as Usual at ScoopB.com

While I am stepping away from the podcast mic for now, let me be very clear: the grind doesn’t stop. ScoopB.comremains the central hub for all my exclusive interviews, breaking news, and deep-dive features. The site will continue to run at full speed, serving as the primary destination for the relationship-driven reporting you’ve come to expect.

We are entering a phase of expansion. The digital footprint is growing, and the way I connect with players and fans will continue to innovate. ScoopB.com will be the heartbeat of that expansion, housing the content that has defined my career for over twenty years.

The Final Episode: April 30

Everything has a season. On Thursday, April 30, I’ll be dropping the very last episode of the Scoop B Radio Podcast. It’s going to be a reflective one—a chance to look back at the moments that shaped the show and the people who made it possible.

It’s been an incredible decade of dope content and, most importantly, the trust of the players and the listeners. You allowed me into your headphones, your cars, and your daily routines. That’s something I don’t take lightly.

To every guest who sat in the chair, every peer who supported the vision, and every listener who tuned in from across the country to overseas: thank you for a decade of greatness.

The podcast era is closing, but the legacy is just entering a new phase. Stay tuned to the site and my digital channels for what’s coming next. The best is yet to come.
