Patriots Super Bowl Champ Brandon Bolden: “I Couldn’t Imagine Bill Belichick Without Football”

The 2024 NFL season is Bill Belichick’s first without a head coaching job since 1999 and some believe that next year the six-time Super Bowl winning coach will be back in the saddle sooner rather than later.

Add former Patriots running back Brandon Bolden to that chorus.

“I couldn’t imagine Belichick without football,” Bolden shared on the Scoop B Radio Podcast this week.

“I don’t see him being an analyst because he won’t be able to be his true authentic self.

“Hearing Bill keeping it PG on TV, it hurts me because it’s like, I know that’s not what he really wanted to say.”

Bolden holds Belichick in high regard. Bolden who was diagnosed with cancer during his career with the Patriots said that Belichick was very supportive. “I was one of those people who was afraid of what I was going to hear if I went to the doctor,” said Bolden.

“Afraid of what was going to happen to me, relationship-wise, job-wise, and everything else. I took it upon myself to call Bill Belichick myself and tell him, ‘Hey, coach, this is what I have going on…’ and he told me right then and there, ‘Well, whatever you’re going through, we’re going through it with you and you have our full support.’”

The support Belichick receives from his former players is pretty solid. The ex-Pats coach and his future in coaching is also supported by former Patriot Julian Edelman. Appearing on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” earlier this week. Edelman shared that he believes that his former coach could take a job with the New York Giants if it is available at season’s end. “The real enticing one, to me, is if the New York Giants open up,” said Edelman.

“And I am not calling for anyone’s job. I love [Brian] Daboll. Daboll is my favorite. But the fate of what they’ve put on the field… You’re going to go down with that ship.

“If that opens up, I remember vividly any time we played in New York or we played the Giants, you could just see a little jingle in Belichick’s spirit because he loved talking about those old Giants teams,” he said. “And he loved talking about that organization. You could tell that he loved the New York Football Giants. He just loves the Giants. So, I think, that would probably be the place he would want to go to.”

Bellichick’s resume is impeccable. He’s third on the all-time NFL coaching wins list with 333. That number includes regular season wins and overall wins, including playoffs. Belichick’s 31 postseason head coaching victories are the most all-time, 11 ahead of Tom Landry’s 20. He’s also ranked second for the most regular season coaching wins with one franchise.

While the chatter of where Bellichick will head next will continue all football season, he’s enjoying life in the media world by making regular appearances on ESPN’s “ManningCast” on Monday nights. He’s also appearing weekly on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

Belichick is also serving as an analyst on “Inside the NFL” and on his own football show on YouTube TV.
