A serious candidate for this season’s WNBA’s Rookie of the Year award, Angel Reese’s stats are a fantasy basketball player’s dream.
Averaging 13.6 points and 12.3 rebounds in year one, the Chicago Sky forward is a rebounding machine that has the distinction of being one of the fastest players in league history to reach 20-double doubles.
It gives Tim Duncan vibes.
Million Dollar Question: How cool would it be if Angel Reese and Tim Duncan trained together in the offseason?
“I mean always learning from a legend is great,” Reese told Scoop B Radio of Duncan, the San Antonio Spurs Hall of Famer.
“For me, I love to pick people’s brains and pick a lot of great players’ brains so of course it would be great.
“I’m just worried about right now. I mean I can’t dictate who I workout with, I’m just looking forward to getting better at the moment.”
2024 is a year of firsts in the WNBA. It could also be a year of first in United States politics.
On the sports side, Reese has the distinction of being the first WNBA player to record 15 consecutive double doubles and is three double doubles away from breaking the rookie record of 22.
On the political side: United States Vice President Kamala Harris could become the first woman President in U.S. history.
While Reese admits that she has not been giving it her total attention due to her work on the court, she does believe that this political season between Harris and Donald Trump is important.
“I haven’t been able to tap a lot into the political election and everything going on,” Reese tells Scoop B Radio.
“I’m not that much educated right now, but I just continue to learn and give feedback. But everyone go out and Vote. I commend that and I tell a lot of people to vote because we need it for this election.”
The Chicago Sky’s seventh overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft, the LSU product reps her native Baltimore, Maryland.
Last summer, her Angel Reese Foundation launched their back to school program where backpacks with school supplies were handed out to area students at her high school alma mater, St. Frances Academy, in Baltimore.
“Angel’s a Baltimore girl and we love it,” Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott tells Scoop B Radio.
“She’s a Baltimore girl and she has that grit and that spirit and that’s why she’s getting those double-doubles EVERY night.
“We love our hoopers. She’s a HOOPER!”
Reese couldn’t be prouder of the work that she’s doing in Charm City and she rocks with Mayor Scott as equally as he does her.
“Yea Baltimore is my home,” she said.
“I love being from Baltimore. Brandon has done a great job in being able to inspire me and just being able to watch him do what he’s done for the city. I like being able to go back with my foundation. I give a scholarship every year to St. Francis, so I’m just continuing to do that and I’m trying to do more.”
