After a decade of breaking news, humanizing icons, and bridging the gap between hip-hop culture and the baseline, the Scoop B Radio Podcast has reached its final destination. On this historic Thursday, April 30, 2026, we close the curtains on a digital era that has spanned over 500 episodes of unfiltered storytelling.
To help us pull up for the final shot, we are joined by NBA Champion and lead analyst Kendrick Perkins. Known for his “Big Perk” energy and refusal to follow a corporate script, Perkins sits down with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson to discuss why the league’s “grit” is finally returning, how LeBron James is still out-leveraging the youth at age 41, and why he believes Victor Wembanyama is the NBA’s first billion-dollar player.

Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Do you see that same regional grit in players today, or has the modern NBA game smoothed out?
Kendrick Perkins: I think it’s coming back. I think that we had lost it for about 10 years, it was gone. But I believe that guys like Jaylen Brown, Anthony Edwards… Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo… and this new generation like Victor Wembanyama and Jaden McDaniels are bringing that “f*** you” back to it. That’s what we’ve been missing. We’re not seeing jersey swaps anymore, and guys are not hanging out with each other. We’re witnessing jealousy across the league and I love it; jealousy and envy in the game of basketball is good for the soul.+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: On being the enforcer on the court, how much of that was basketball and how much of that was survival instincts from Texas?
Kendrick Perkins: I think it was a combination of both. You had to find that balance on the floor, but you also had to go against the old heads at the park and be able to take some elbows to learn how to play physical. The other part is what you’ve been through in life—the adversity and the trials and tribulations that make you into a man. I cried myself to sleep so many nights as a kid that I’m all cried out now. That’s what made me who I am today.+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: You said the Houston Rockets were the dumbest and most selfish team in the postseason after Game 2 against the Lakers. Why?
Kendrick Perkins: Did I lie?. When you’re not competing and you’re letting Luke Kennard look like the second coming of Larry Bird, I have a problem with that. On paper, they have the athleticism and are supposed to be the instigators. Ime Udoka—what the hell were y’all doing during the time off?. Alperen Şengün took five steps forward last year and ten steps backwards this year. I don’t see the IQ; that’s the biggest separator between the Lakers and the Rockets.+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Would you like to see Kyrie Irving on the Minnesota Timberwolves?
Kendrick Perkins: I just want to see Kyrie Irving on a contender. Absolutely, depending on what they have to give up. If you can keep that core of Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle, Naz Reid, and Jaden McDaniels intact and add a Kyrie Irving, then I’m all in for it.+2
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: If a 41-year-old LeBron James beats the Houston Rockets with a shorthanded Lakers team, what does that do for the GOAT debates?
Kendrick Perkins: A 41-year-old is not supposed to be the best basketball player in the series, which he is right now. LeBron is empowering guys like Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart, and Luke Kennard and bringing the best out of them. I’m convinced he can go out there and win one with anybody. I saw a video of him being the first one in the building before the playoffs, and I know that look—that boy there is ready!+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Should we hold Nikola Jokić accountable for his rim protection while the NBA is infatuated with his triple-doubles?
Kendrick Perkins: I think certain people have selective memory. We’re witnessing a change where franchise guys like Cade Cunningham, Victor Wembanyama, and Anthony Edwards are expected to be 2-way players. If you’re not playing both ends of the floor, why are we giving you a pass?. Franchise guys are getting exposed defensively if they aren’t playing defense. Even Jalen Brunson—I had to call him out because CJ McCollum is scoring on him every single time.+3
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: What is the biggest risk for a media personality who refuses to follow a corporate script?
Kendrick Perkins: If you follow a corporate script, that’s when you don’t get picked up. We are in 2026 where the corporate script no longer exists; people want authenticity, knowledge, and personality. It’s not just about X’s and O’s anymore. People can disagree with my takes, but they cannot say I’m not entertaining. Look at Pat McAfee—he’s bringing a whole different type of energy. If you don’t see the change and where it’s going, I don’t know what else to tell you.+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Are athletes forcing journalists to step their games up in the media?
Kendrick Perkins: Yeah, I can see that. Relationships are key when it comes to dropping information and getting interviews. The media space is about to expand so much. You have ESPN, NBC, and Amazon, but now Netflix is coming in. I wouldn’t even be surprised if CNN comes up with a daily sports show.+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: What is the blueprint for a young star like Ja Morant or Victor Wembanyama to protect their legacy?
Kendrick Perkins: You have to have the skill set, but your character better be on point. If not, you’re gonna get left behind because there is so much great talent on the way, like Cameron Boozer and AJ Dybantsa. Franchise guys are not “untouchable” like they used to be when I first came into the league. If you have problems off the floor, teams will just go get a “new shiny” young killer to start over.+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: If you had to start a team with a 19-year-old version of one of your former teammates—KD, Russ, or Harden—who are you picking?
Kendrick Perkins: I’m picking Russ. He’s never going to disappoint me regarding availability, motor, energy, and effort on both ends of the floor. He’s a family man who doesn’t drink or smoke, and he does a lot in the community. I’m investing in him.+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: What about the rumors of Russell Westbrook going to the Kings or them trading for Ja Morant?
Kendrick Perkins: If you’re the Kings, you’re tired of being the laughing stock of the NBA. But I think their first option should not be Ja or Russ. Their first option should be seeing where they land in the draft and which young stud like Darius Acuff Jr. they can get to be their franchise guy.+3
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Is Ja Morant a better fit in Phoenix, or should Memphis salvage the relationship?
Kendrick Perkins: That relationship is gone. He wants out and they want him out. I think the best thing for Ja is to go get some of that Pat Riley [culture] real quick. Right now, teams are asking the Grizzlies to attach a first-round pick just to take him. He needs to clean it up and realize the NBA isn’t forever.+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Should the Pelicans keep interim head coach James Borrego full-time?
Kendrick Perkins: They should weigh their options. Coaching is not the same anymore; it’s very seldom that coaches stick with a franchise. This is a crucial turning point for them with guys like Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen.+2
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Is Mike Brown a good replacement for Steve Kerr on the Warriors?
Kendrick Perkins: You have to bring in someone Steph knows and someone who will duplicate the same offense. So yeah, Mike Brown would be—but we also have to get to a point where we’re tired of rotating suits and instead roll with a young stud.+2
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Is Steph Curry a Warrior for life?
Kendrick Perkins: Yes, because he’s the greatest San Francisco Bay Area athlete ever. I know Barry Bonds and Jerry Rice, but they ain’t Steph.+1
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Do you see LeBron James going back to the Cavaliers?
Kendrick Perkins: He should. It’s set up perfectly for him to end it where it all started.
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: What are your thoughts on Tiago Splitter’s coaching ability?
Kendrick Perkins: He should be the coach for the future. He’s maxing out guys like Scoot Henderson and Deni Avdija. He’s a champion who comes from the Spurs organization, and he has the locker room. You don’t mess with that.+4
Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson: Give me an “out on a limb” prediction for a future household name and your Finals pick.
Kendrick Perkins: Tari Eason is going to leave Houston and in the next 5-6 years, he will be an All-Star household name. Houston has had him in a box. As for the championship, I already said the Spurs are winning it this year. Wembanyama is going to average a 30-point double-double in the Finals. He’s the only player I would spend my own money on to sit front row and watch.
As Scoop B Radio signs off for the final time, the mission remains the same: storytelling with soul. While the podcast concludes its ten-year run, the journey is far from over.
