ScoopB.com caught up with the versatile forward to discuss his growth within the Cavaliers’ system and his long standing relationship with the Adidas family.
The following Q&A explores his early inspirations and what it means to be part of a team defined by the Three Stripes.
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: I’ve noticed throughout the course of the season that you were in a lot of different people’s shoes. Do you want your own shoe with Adidas?
Evan Mobley: It’s like everyone would want that. It’s a cool thing to have, but I’m happy with Adidas right now and I like the shoes I’m in right now. And it is what it is.
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Who was your point of entry to basketball when you were a kid?
Evan Mobley: Kevin Durant was my favorite player. I used to watch him a lot.
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Are there any moments as a kid that come to mind that you watched that are memorable?
Evan Mobley: With Kevin Durant. Since he was at OKC all the way up until he won the championship, just following him throughout his career. That’s always been my favorite because we had similar builds growing up and stuff like that.
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Being from LA, who were your guys that you watched as a kid that you also like?
Evan Mobley: James [Harden] obviously. Paul Pierce. It’s a lot of guys. I watch the game and I take bits and pieces from different players, but I also try to focus on my game and what I have.
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: What has the learning curve been like for you this season as opposed to last season?
Evan Mobley: It’s a long season and not every season is the same. Last season we had a great start and this season we didn’t have the best start, but we’re still in a pretty good position right now. We’re gonna finish strong so just go season by season and game by game.
Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: You guys are an Adidas team! How cool is that to kind of see stripes running the league?
Evan Mobley: Yeah, I mean, it’s great having Don [Mitchell] and now James Harden on the team’s big three. So it’s pretty cool and we’re gonna keep running it.
Evan Mobley’s steady progression highlights the importance of patience and perspective in a league that often demands instant results.
By modeling his game after a generational talent like Kevin Durant, he has developed a rare combination of length and skill that makes him a matchup nightmare.
His appreciation for his teammates and his brand partners shows a player who understands the value of the ecosystem around him.
As Cleveland prepares for a deep playoff run, Mobley’s ability to adapt to different challenges will be the ultimate factor in their success.
The synergy within the Cavaliers’ Adidas-led core is a unique storyline that mirrors the team’s unified identity on the floor. Whether he eventually lands a signature sneaker or continues to lead in the latest performance models, Mobley is clearly comfortable in his own skin.
He is no longer just a prospect with high upside but a definitive force in the hunt for a championship.
