From Prodigy to Powerhouse: The 25-Year Evolution of Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson

Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson has a unique media career that began as a “child prodigy” in the late ’90s. His journey is defined by his transition from a teenage radio host to a prominent NBA Insider and digital media entrepreneur.

Early Career & The Prodigy Era (1997–2003)

  • 1997: At age 12, he lands his “big break” co-hosting Nets Slammin’ Planet on AAHS World Radio. He beats out 200 other applicants to work alongside retired NBA player Albert King and Evan Roberts.
  • 1998–2000: Gains locker room access to legends like Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. His work is featured on NBA Inside Stuff and Fox Sports Network.
  • High School: Serves as the sports editor of the Ironman newspaper at Don Bosco Prep and begins announcing for his school’s basketball team.

Academic Foundation & Freelance Grind (2004–2012)

  • 2004–2008: Attends Eastern University, serving as sports editor of The Waltonian and the public address announcer for several athletic teams.
  • 2008–2010: Earns a Master’s degree in Journalism from Hofstra University.

  • 2016: Officially soft-launches the Scoop B Radio Network, utilizing a “vault” of interviews he recorded on cassette tapes as a child.
  • 2017–2018: Becomes Managing Editor and Columnist at RESPECT. Magazine and a senior writer at Basketball Society.
  • 2018–2020: Joins Heavy.com as a Senior Sports Writer, where his reports regularly go viral and are cited by ESPN and Bleacher Report.

Multimedia Mogul (2020–2025)

  • 2020: His podcast, Scoop B Radio, surpasses millions of streams, featuring guests like Mark Cuban, Charles Barkley, and DJ Khaled.
  • 2021: Joins Bally Sports Network as a National NBA Insider. He also makes an appearance in the NBA 2K video game.
  • 2022: Covers his first NBA Finals in person, traveling for all six games between Boston and San Francisco.
  • 2023–2024: Expands into executive producing and launches the #Credentialed brand to support independent creatives. He hosts Scoop B Radio Overtime with high-profile guests like Jim Jones and Ice Cube.
