James Worthy has never been one to mince words, and when it comes to Kevin Durant, the Hall of Famer made it clear—KD is one of the coldest in the game.
“I’m a huge Kevin Durant fan. I don’t know whether he’s small or power [forward], I think he does both,” Worthy said on this week’s episode of Scoop B Radio while showing appreciation for Durant’s versatility on the court.
Too often, the discourse around the league’s best players centers around Steph Curry and LeBron James. But Worthy reminded everyone that Durant belongs in that conversation, too.
“We talk about Steph [Curry] and LeBron [James], but KD is—he’s an assassin. He can get it whenever he wants, and he’s good on both ends.”
That’s high praise coming from a three-time NBA champion who knows a thing or two about two-way dominance. And Worthy didn’t stop there. He made it a point to show love to Klay Thompson as well, recognizing the Warriors sharpshooter’s defensive impact.
“Klay Thompson, he’s more of a two, but played a lot of small forward. Plays both ends of the court. I like guys who can do it on both ends.”
James Worthy also had high praise for Toronto Raptors forward, Brandon Ingram. Ingram, a native of the state of North Carolina just like Worthy was drafted by the Lakers prior to his stint with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Worthy was gracious in his assessment of Ingram: “He reminds me of Kevin Durant with the height, his ability to score with people, his ball handling skills. If he could just be more of a two-way player on the other end, then he’s right there with Kevin Durant.”
Worthy sees what real hoopers already know—Durant, Ingram and Thompson aren’t just offensive threats; they’re two-way forces who make a difference across the board.
Coming from a Lakers legend, that kind of talk holds weight. Worthy sees what real hoopers already know—Durant and Thompson aren’t just scorers; they’re complete players who impact the game in multiple ways.
As the NBA season unfolds, Worthy’s words serve as a reminder: don’t sleep on KD. He’s still that guy.
